The two-color rose Osiria, which was re-blooming, of a very unusual color, was bred by specialists of the German company Reimer Kordes almost forty years ago, but today this highly decorative flowering plant is in demand and is very popular in many countries, due to the formation of distinctly red light reverse flowers.

Plant Variety Description

Bushes of the hybrid tea of Osiriya variety are quite powerful, well developed, upright type. Quite often you can observe the formation of drooping shoots as a result of the formation of very heavy and massive buds. An adult plant is characterized by a fairly good foliage along the entire length of the shoots. Foliage is greenish, with a pronounced matte surface. Shrub shoots of this variety reach a height of 80-90 cm and are great for use in landscaping and cutting.

The height of the adult bush of the Osiriya hybrid tea rose is 1 m or slightly exceeds 1.1 m. The width of the crown of the bush during timely and competent measures for the formation and pruning rarely exceeds 0.7-0.9 m. The resistance of the variety to the defeat of the most common diseases is quite average. In some years, and with an unfavorable agricultural background, this variety needs regular preventive treatments.

Flowering characteristic

The main feature of the Osiria variety rose is the very original color of the flowers. If the inner petals are presented in red colors and have a gentle, pronounced velvety, then the bottom side is characterized by a very attractive, creamy white hue. Buds of a densely terry type. Halfway buds have a goblet shape. At the stage of complete dissolution, the shape of the buds changes to open and cupped.

The size of the flowers in diameter is about 10-11 cm. Fully opened flowers are characterized by a very pronounced heady aroma, intensifying in the evening hours. The flowering is plentiful and long, lasting from mid-June to almost the last warm autumn days.

Pest protection

Like many tea hybrid varieties, Osiriya rose needs strict observance of care measures according to the agricultural technology of this decorative culture. Untimely or insufficiently correct care often becomes the main cause of damage to rose bushes by a viral, fungal or bacterial infection.

It should be remembered about non-infectious diseases of rose bushes, which can be represented:

  • sunburns of the aerial parts of the plant and require the use of removable shading of the bushes with awnings or special shading nets;
  • physiological aging, characteristic of all varieties of grafted roses and expressed in the accumulation of diseases, thickening of the aerial part, damage to the root neck of fungi and bacteria and the growth of shoots of the root part;
  • lack of nutrients, including nitrogen, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and iron;
  • chlorosis due to a lack of minerals or the inability of the bush to absorb nutrients.

Subject to the cultivation technology, the variety has quite tolerable resistance to damage by diseases and plant parasites and needs a standard set of preventive measures.

Reviews of rose growers

Reviews of flower growers growing Osiriya hybrid tea roses are very mixed. Some are pleased to note a good and plentiful flowering, but claim a slow growth of the rose bush and relatively weak peduncles, which very often fall under the weight of large buds, which becomes especially noticeable after heavy rains. Such a feature was obtained by Osiria as a result of the prevalence of the genes of one of the parent plants represented by the Snowfire variety.

Roses: propagation by cuttings (video)

Also in recent years, there has been a realization of specimens of this variety that were obtained as a result of vegetative propagation and are characterized by a very high susceptibility to various diseases. However, pure-planting material, the description of which is given above, is practically devoid of all these shortcomings and shows a very high level of decorativeness when grown in home gardening in most regions of our country.
